THE DIET THAT REALLY WORKS!
It’s definitely summer here in Florida. I walk faster so that my shoes won’t stick to the pavement. I’m not sure why now, but everyone is ‘hot’ to diet and lose weight. Well here are the facts as we know them today.
Forget diets. If ywe go on a ‘diet’, 75% of us will lose weight in 6 months! Now datz wut ahm talkin bout as they say in Brooklyn. But if we follow the weight losers for 2 more years, 94% gain it all back or more. Yikes. So does anything consistently work and we can live with it? Yup. Not a diet, mind you, but a way of life. First is the commitment to change. Ya gotta want it. Next is to read and learn about the glycemic diet. A simple but accurate guide is the ‘Idiot’s Guide to the Low Glycemic Diet’. I know, I know, I hate checking out with those books ’cause you know the clerk is saying, ‘Hmm, an Idiot’. But the book is really good at explaining. It comes down to eating 6 out of 7 days enjoy less than 65 Glycemic index scaled foods (individually), with palm sized portions, and two snacks mid morning and mid day. Add 8, 12 ounce waters and that’s it. Have what you like on day 7 but you can enjoy the other 6. (Example breakfast: scramble eggs w/ salsa, cheese, olives,–one slice of rye toast w butter,–two slices of turkey bacon, palm size blue berries. No it’s not pancakes, but you can have those on day 7).
My daily mantra is LOVE. I LOVE food. L is eating little, O is eating often, V is eating mostly vegetables, and E is eating early. Like a king at breakfast, a pauper at lunch and a beggar at night.
